Valencia have dismissed head coach Carlos Corberan and football chief executive Ron Gourlay following a winless opening to the La Liga season.
The club are bottom of the table with just one point from their first five matches. The decision comes a week after Valencia suffered a heavy 5-0 defeat by Barcelona.
Valencia sack Carlos Corberan
Corberan was appointed by Valencia in December 2024 after working in charge of Championship side West Bromwich Albion. He led the club to 12th place in his first season, having arrived when Valencia was second from bottom of La Liga.
His first-team coaching staff will also leave the club, while Valencia B coach Oscar Sanchez has been placed in temporary charge.
The club said the changes were intended to start a new phase for its sporting structure and football operations. Valencia added that details of the new setup and the next sporting project would be announced shortly.
Ron Gourlay leaves Valencia
Gourlay, a former Chelsea chief executive who also worked at West Bromwich Albion, joined Valencia in December 2024. He has now been dismissed alongside Corberan as the club seeks a change in its football operations.
Gourlay's team, consisting of Lisandro Isei, Hans Gillhaus, Andres Zamora, and Malek Shafei, will also depart Valencia.
Valencia prepares for the next fixture
Corberan's departure means Valencia will appoint their 18th permanent head coach since 2012. The club now faces the task of finding a new long-term manager after turning to Sanchez on an interim basis.
Valencia's next match comes on Tuesday against Deportivo Alaves, with the club looking to respond after a difficult start that has left them bottom of La Liga.
